Narrative Exposure Therapy

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) is a psychological intervention that has been developed to treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in both children and adults. In 2001 I was among the first UK mental health professionals to be trained in NET. Since this time the evidence-base regarding the effectiveness of NET has grown considerably with studies conducted in both high-income and low and middle-income settings. I have represented the UK in two grants from the EU to build the capacity of mental health services to deliver NET across Europe. During these projects and subsequently, together with Katy Robjant , we have organised training for a further 150 mental health professionals to deliver this treatment in Britain. NET is now offered as a principal treatment for torture survivors at a number of traumatic stress services across the UK.
